Kroonjuwelen uit Montalcino
(English below)
English
Montalcino is located around the village of the same name in the province of Siena, in the heart of Tuscany. The only permitted grape variety is Sangiovese, historically referred to as Brunello. Although Brunello was already mentioned in the 14th century, the region only gained real momentum in the 1970s, when foreign investors recognized its enormous potential.
At that time, there were only about 20 producers. Over the following five decades, Montalcino developed into one of Italy’s most prestigious wine regions, now counting more than 300 producers. Naturally, quality differences within this landscape are significant.
Alongside large scale Brunello producers such as Banfi, with 1,000 hectares of vineyards, you will find small family estates crafting authentic, character driven wines with strong terroir expression from just a few hectares.
From this second category, we are proud to introduce two gems from our portfolio:
Col di Lamo and Terre Nere.
